About Me
Robert Miller
Illinois State-Licensed Home Inspector #450011744
When I first started my business, I was a little nervous that I wouldn’t be respected as much as the bigger firms with multiple inspectors.
Thankfully I was wrong and was soon faced with the need to add additional inspectors. As I started thinking about putting the fate of my customers in someone else’s hands though, I decided bigger isn’t necessarily better.
When my customers work with Miller Building Inspections, they get ME! Not a guy they’ve never met or a guy that might have just started last week, or one that might be gone next week. They work with the guy whose name is on the line. And that’s important to my customers!
I’m proud to be from Bloomington-Normal. I graduated from Normal Community, and also attended both Heartland Community College and Illinois State University. My wife (Kathi) and I have lived in the Downs area for the last 37 years and our daughter is a Tri-Valley Graduate. When I’m not working for great people like you, I enjoy helping on our family farm, spending time with friends, family and our two grandsons. I’m also an avid golfer, loyal St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoy traveling to the Caribbean.
Core Values
Professional
Whether it’s using my drone to get the best shot of your roof or my thermal imaging camera to diagnose issues, I’ve invested thousands of dollars and completed rigorous education (not to mention FAA exams!) to ensure I have the tools necessary complete a thorough inspection of your new home. I also maintain membership in industry trade organizations to stay on top of emerging issues.
ethical
I’ve taken the responsible position of carrying liability and errors and omission insurance. Why do you care? In the unlikely event that I miss a critical component on your inspection, you’ll have protection. And yes, unfortunately that makes me different. The State of Illinois doesn’t require home inspectors to carry E & O insurance so many inspectors skip the expense. I take my responsibility to you seriously and am proud to be an inspecting service that protects you long after you read my inspection report.
Thorough
Is your new home one of the biggest purchases you’ll ever make? If so, you’ll appreciate the time I spend on site with you. Sure, my 70+ point home inspection focuses on the safety of the home but it also helps you avoid those unexpected expenses that no homeowner enjoys. During the inspection, we’ll also talk about long-term maintenance items allowing you to budget for them instead of being blindsided. On top of that, as a gift to my clients, I’ve developed a “4 Year Home Inspection Checklist.” It’s filled with seasonal reminders to help you take care of your new investment and a favorite of our customers! We’ll review it together at the end of your inspection.
Patient
In most cases, I am the first professional to visit your new home. So it’s important to me that you get ALL of your questions answered! Not only do I allow plenty of time at the completion of your inspection, but you have FREE access to me for one year following your inspection.
Efficient
Chances are, your life was busy enough before you threw a new home into the mix. I get it! But I also know you’re making a big investment and want to be sure everything is okay with your new home. You’re always welcome to attend the inspection but if you just can’t fit it in, I certainly understand. Either way, you’ll receive a customized report complete with pictures of your home and my recommendations.
Give me a chance to put over 30 years of construction experience, to work for you. You have my commitment that you won’t be disappointed!
